Noranda seeks an IT Technician. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong understanding of desktop operating systems, routinely thinks outside the box to solve problems quickly and understands what impeccable customer service is about. The IT Technician will be responsible for front line support in the field as well as over the phone to plant personnel.
Essential Functions · Provide technical assistance and resolution as necessary · Set up new computer systems and perform routine maintenance · Maintain computer equipment and software to ensure secure and efficient operations · Repair computer hardware and servers as required · Provide end user support for usage of company assigned devices · Test and implement new software programs for the company · Develops and maintains software and hardware inventory and tracking systems; developsinventory lists and stocks and stores electronic components · Develops and maintains internal documentation · Terminate network cabling · Other IT support duties as assigned · Ability to provide on call support Key Competencies · Strong customer-focused communication skills essential · Problem solver, analytical, detailed and process-oriented · Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects effectively · Ability to handle moving PCs and other IT-related equipment Required Qualifications · 3+ years’ experience as a Computer Technician or Desktop Support Specialist · Experience supporting a Microsoft Active Directory environment · Strong understanding of Microsoft operating systems · Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications · Office 365 support experience Education · Associates Degree in IT or related field required. .Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or related field is a plus. Work Environment · Manufacturing work environment – inside and outside. Will require being in the heat, rain and other elements for short times. · Fast-paced, customer-focused culture. Physical Demands · Prolonged sitting or standing possible depending on the task performing. · Lifting up to 50 lbs. · Pushing/Pulling up to 200 lbs such as a printer. Work Authorization This role requires authorization to work in the United States. Noranda Alumina LLC operates as an alumina refinery situated along the Mississippi River in St. James Parish just downstream of Gramercy, Louisiana. The refinery utilizes the Bayer Process to extract alumina from bauxite provided by sister company Noranda Bauxite Ltd. in St. Ann, Jamaica. Current plant manufacturing capacity is approximately 1,200,000 metric tons per year of alumina.Noranda Alumina LLC was formerly known as Gramercy Alumina LLC and changed its name to Noranda Alumina LLC in September 2009.
