Position Overview
We are currently looking for a Sr. Civil Designer to support our Northwest District’s Estimating team in Vancouver, Washington.
As the Sr. Civil Designer you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Northwest District continues to win work at the right price.
Working within the estimating team you will support a variety of infrastructure projects ranging from roads, dams, bridges, underground utilities etc.
utilizing the latest design software and mobile field applications to produce high quality proposal graphics to showcase our work.
Our goal is to continue to develop and implement new technology in order to help us plan and build our projects safer, to a higher level of Quality and more productively than we or our competitors ever have before.
District Overview
Kiewit’s Northwest District is headquartered in Vancouver, Washington. We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, water resources, and underground utilities.
We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! Our current opportunities are spread across the entire west coast including Alaska and Hawaii.
Location
This position will be located out of our Vancouver, WA district office. Travel and relocating on an as-needed basis is not required.
Responsibilities
Build 2D and 3D models from a variety of information sources
Assist in preparation of construction work plans, project planning and scheduling
Create as-build drawings using AutoCAD and material submittals
Review drawings and make changes based on field input from segment Project Managers and Project Engineer
Optimize grading / earthworks quantities
Perform concrete formwork and lift drawings
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs in 3D from the models for estimating purposes and / or to support progress claims during construction
Work within a team to model alternate scenarios and / or develop step by step construction plans and presentation materials
Prepare Survey and Machine Control files for construction
Train other colleagues and field personnel on new technology and mobile applications and estimating work
Train and mentor younger engineers in estimating work
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications
A Geomatics, Survey or Engineering degree with experience in the construction industry
Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation Inroads or Trimble Business Center
Avid user of Excel and ideally experienced in P6 Scheduling, Primavera and BlueBeam
Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
