    Summary

    THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

    This National Guard position is for a HR ASST (MIL), Position Description Number T5043000 and is part of the WY 153rd Force Support Squadron, National Guard.

    Responsibilities

    This position is located within the Wyoming Air National Guard's 153d Force Support Squadron (153 FSS), 153d Mission Support Group (153 MSG), 153d Airlift Wing (153 AW). The primary purpose is to assist a higher graded specialist in researching/studying/analyzing and administering all aspects of the assigned function(s). Performs duties in one or more program areas as described below. Incumbent identifies the scope or nature of a situation and determines the need for and obtains additional information through research of pertinent records, identifying trends and patterns, and/or review of technical reference material in order to resolve problems or controversies pertaining to human resources matters.

    KEY REQUIREMENTS:

    This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.

    The Selected applicant must complete an "I-9, Employment Verification", "OF-306, Declaration of Federal Employment", a "Memorandum understanding requirements upon acceptance of an Indefinite position; and a "Declaration of Relatives in the Wyoming Military Department" prior to the appointment date.

    May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

    Indefinite position may convert to Permanent if funding/position is availableCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    1. The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.

    2. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.

    3. Must participate in one drill day per month for continuity of operations as it pertains to the Customer Service work center with the Military Personnel Section and as the Commander's Support Staff (CSS) for the 153d Force Support Squadron.

    Qualifications

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess at least three months' experience, education, or training which provided a basic working knowledge of personnel programs; and one year of basic knowledge and working experience in personnel programs gained as a volunteer, in a classroom, or as a trainee; basic knowledge competency of human resources business elements and can discuss terminology, concepts, merit principles, and issues; and experience using reference and resource materials.

    Experiences may include performing personnel functions associated with customer service, preparing and maintaining manual records, career enhancement, managing personnel records and researching record data; and experienced in operating a computer, utilizing multiple computer programs, and performing keyboard functions.TIME-IN-GRADE: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served at least 52 weeks as a GS-5 or higher grade in Federal Service.PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Education

    A high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma is required. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is desired. A graduate degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum.

    Purpose: To fill a position that may last for more than 1 year where the need for an employee's services is not permanent or management expects the position to potentially become permanent (career or career-conditional) at some time in the future.
