RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position functions under the School Cafeteria Supervisor who provides instruction either orally or written. Observe work and check periodically to see that the work is being done on time and according to instructions. A program is designed to feed 3 meals a day, 7 days a week and to provide a clean sanitary kitchen, cooking utensils and an orderly dining room area for the serving and eating of meals. Incumbent is expected to be fully aware of all food handler safety concerns as demonstrated by possession of a valid Food Handler Certificate.

Within the framework of the established schedules and routines, Incumbent assists the School Cafeteria Supervisor in the following tasks: Operate food service equipment; oversee all food service personnel in their duties; prepare items on the menu for each meal; insure the menu is followed and recipe cards are used; helps with general cleaning and sanitation of all kitchen areas and equipment; assist in making salads and salad dressings; will supervise feeding of the meal and insure portion control and clean all equipment used.

Incumbent will assist in the following tasks: Cleaning all equipment used; assure proper personal hygiene; keep all unauthorized personnel our of food preparation areas; responsible for proper storage of and use of all leftovers within designated time period; responsible for rotation of all food items assuring that the oldest items is used first, using the packing date, not the received date; responsible for kitchen operation in the absence of the Cafeteria Supervisor and provide guidance and direction to student workers and staff.

Current Food Handler Certificate must be submitted with resume and supporting documents.
