The Regional Sr Director, Information Technology, within will be responsible for leading the Technology Infrastructure efforts for the North West region of OptumCare. Within this role the individual will be responsible for leading a technology team that will provide the technology delivery services to multiple Care Delivery Organizations (CDO?s) within the North West region, while being a key contributor to delivering solutions that can scale to a national level. Key areas of leadership focus and accountability will include:

  • Leading regional alignment efforts to OptumTech solutions where applicable
  • Managing the execution of local delivery while leveraging the appropriate balance between local, regional and national service delivery models and solutions.
  • Data Center and Cloud consolidation and consistency for CDO delivery
  • Network and Voice Services
  • End User delivery, services and support
  • Regional and Local Services Desk delivery
  • Leading infrastructure alignment to OptumCare and EIS Security requirements
  • Managing to or exceeding service, performance and capacity metrics and SLA's for the local, regional and national solutions for each Care Delivery Organization
Key Attributes of the Regional Senior Director role:
  • Prioritize and remain focused on creating consistent, scalable solutions across CDO?s
  • Understand and appreciate the challenges of the individual business units
  • Balance national, regional and local technology priorities
  • Challenge CDO?s to standardize on proven technologies, tools and processes
  • Educate and partner with technical and business leaders on purpose and the benefits of Optum-sponsored objectives
  • The Regional Senior Director (RSD) must be a Change Agent to benefit all stakeholders
  • Flexibility is a critical attribute of the selected leader
  • Having a long-term view is a core requirement for success - it is a journey of improvement
  • The RSD must have the ability to be comfortable working at all levels of the organization
  • A bias for action is important, understanding that some areas will be able to move faster than others
  • Push to have Key Performance Metrics collected and rolled up for regional and then national visibility
  • Advocate for providing opportunities to technologists
  • Strategize on how best to tie the local technical tower teams into the appropriate national team (network engineering, service desk)
  • Raise the bar mentality
Goals:
  • Drive increased transparency of infrastructure and security priorities
  • Collaborate with CDO & Optum technical and financial leaders to fully understand and document true costs
  • Eliminate shadow IT
  • Document and reduce technical debt; especially where security and stability is at risk
  • Move PMO focus from local to regional
  • Establish common Infrastructure and Security progress reporting
  • Partner with other Optum Tech teams
  • Execute on the long-term vision to incorporate national service delivery as appropriate

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (equivalent equals 4 additional years in lieu of a degree)
  • 10 or more years of experience managing large technology teams
  • 10 or more years of experience in Technology Delivery in the following areas:
  • Network and Voice
  • Server and Storage
  • End Point and End User technologies and services
  • Travel is expected to be 25% once COVID restrictions are lifted.
  • Cloud
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to balance multiple business strategies while managing consistency of Technology solution and delivery
  • Ability to be key contributor to a broader team including leaders across Optum Tech and OptumCare

  • Primary markets will be the Pacific North West. The ideal candidate will need to reside in market.
