Process Engineer – Entry LevelIntroduction Merrick & Company is seeking an Entry Level Process Engineer for our Oak Ridge, TN office.Multiple levels of positions are posted, please only apply to the ONE that is the BEST fit. Job Description Process engineer to work primarily on cutting edge nuclear laboratory and energy projects. A successful candidate will be placed in a key engineering role, working within a small, multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers to execute design and engineering on projects.Scope/Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for:Analyzes equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine appropriate designs.

Prepares process design deliverables including:

Process Flow Diagrams

Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams

Equipment sizing calculations

Process line sizing calculations

Equipment and Instrument datasheets

Vendor coordination for selection of instrumentation and equipment.

Reviews and checks the work of other process engineers to determine accuracy and completeness.

Coordination of design inputs and design activities with other engineering disciplines in a team environment.

Required Qualifications, Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) / Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program;

Zero (0) to Four (4) years related experience and/or training.

Experience in Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear projects is a big plus.

The client projects for this position require U.S. citizenship.

Candidate must be capable of and willing to obtain a Q clearance.

Must have a knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Internet software.

Experience in the following process software packages is advantageous:

AFT Arrow

AFT Fathom

MathCad

AutoCad, Preferred

Certificates and Licenses:

FE/EIT strongly preferred.

Candidate is expected to attain PE at earliest opportunity.

Local candidates strongly preferred.

Physical RequirementsThe job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Ability to support work site visits that require walking and standing for extended periods a plus.
