POSITION SUMMARY
Assist refuge staff performing rehabilitation and revegetation for the Cumero Burned Area Recovery project on the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge near Sasabe AZ for up to one year. Habitat worker will work in a remote area performing different methods of rehabilitation work in all weather conditions. Tasks may include using powered equipment to cut trees/brush, digging and building erosion structures, broadcast seed, plant seedlings, operate irrigation systems and other related tasks to fulfill objectives for project.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have valid driver’s license
Able to work independently or in a group
Proficient in written and verbal communication
Ability to sit, stand, stoop and bend over for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) Ability to walk/work on all types of surfaces (uneven and slippery ground) Ability to lift/carry up to 40 pounds for extended periods
Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as directed
Work in outdoor environment: heat, cold, wet and dry and dusty conditions
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Ability to complete task training and to maintain certifications
Ability to commute daily to Buenos Aires wildlife refuge
Drive company vehicle to load and unload materials
Knowledge or ability to learn of operating power tools/ gas powered equipment Knowledge or ability to learn different methods of rehabilitation methods
