Distribution Protection Engineer
Location preferred in Butte; other major office locations in Montana (Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula) may be consideredQUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, and the ability to obtain a PE License
Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Excellent technical writing skills
Practical knowledge of Microsoft applications
Ability to work closely with other individuals and cooperate with other departments
Ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks of projects, and stressful situations
Organized and have the ability to work effectively with others
Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
Ability to travel up to 15% for offsite meetings, trainings, etc.
Ability to pass a drug test and a background check
Knowledge of the NESC, and the NEC Codes is preferred
Strong understanding of electric power systems, electric circuit analysis, protective device coordination, and an understanding of microprocessor based equipment and logic design is desirable
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Apply technology (e.g. Intelligent Electronic Devices, Distributed Energy Resources, Communication, Software, Systems, etc.) to the electric distribution system
Design, specify and integrate field equipment with system software and services
Create and analyze computer based system models, perform fault studies, and perform power system protection coordination studies
Develop automation and protective device coordination schemes for the electric system
Provide training and support as new products, systems, and coordination schemes are implemented
Troubleshoot systems, analyze data, and evaluate results of applied technology projects to the distribution system
Develop economic and business case justifications to advance technology projects in the distribution area
Respond to internal/external inquiries related to equipment and systems
Provide technical support for operations in areas related to technology initiatives
Research new technology and products and make recommendations for equipment and systems
Adhere to company safety standards
Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives
Full-time position.$62,900 - $135,200 annually, depending on experience.
