Requisition Number: 202000644 Job Summary:As part of the Engineering Enablement group, The Senior Manager, Software Engineering is responsible for leading a team of individuals chartered to deliver best-in-class tooling and platforms to enable hundreds of teams across the organization to be successful and productive. This individual will act in a servant leader role and be an agent of innovation while inspiring those around them. This individual also plays a role in consultation, coaching, and engineering practice leadership for internal customers and stakeholders. Working at the intersection of people and technology, you will play a huge role in mentorship and career development while also making strong technical decisions. We are looking for someone to continue evolving the architecture of our platform and applications-updating and expanding our already diverse and innovative technology stackwhile also guiding a team of engineers and their roadmaps. As an Engineering Manager you'll play a key part in delivering innovative products and features that help other engineering teams throughout the company be successful.The Day to Day:
  • You are a Senior Software Engineering Manager who still likes to get your hands dirty and enjoys the career growth and additional challenges of managing and growing a world class development team leveraging AWS.
  • You will provide hands-on leadership for a development team, building and enhancing our applications in our service-oriented, highly scalable environment
  • You will help ensure we keep the talent bar high and grow the skills and capabilities of your team as our engineering organization grows
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead and grow a team of engineering professionals chartered to provide excellence in engineering tools and practices.
  • Work in agile development environment with a team of highly motivated employees
  • Recruit and hire exceptional talent and facilitate onboarding of new team members.
  • Work to establish engineering strategies with a focus on quality
  • Coach and mentor team members on career growth
  • Facilitate continuous learning and improvement for the team and its members.
  • Evaluate team members performance including performance reviews
  • Advocate the products and services offered by the Enablement organization to stakeholder teams
  • Foster agile practices and thought processes in the team and larger organization.
  • Participate in feature reviews with product owners, designers, and software engineers
  • Actively work alongside Product and Program Management partners to manage and prioritize engineering initiatives, infrastructure changes, maintenance, and new feature requests
  • Communicate and advocate for Enablement team roadmaps and plans with stakeholders and collaborators
  • Create an environment of collective ownership and operation for the services, tools, and platform built and operated by the team.
  • Enables visibility and transparency of related costs for teams to run solutions on the public cloud.

Qualifications: Required Skills, Experience and Education:
  • 10+ years experience in software engineering
  • 3+ years experience managing engineering teams
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Agile work processes and managing sprint cycles to ensure product ships on time and with quality
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery with an emphasis of shipping code rapidly to production and learning/iterating on the results
  • Desire to work with other functional groups to solve tough business problems with quality software at scale
  • Solid understanding of service-oriented and event-driven system architectures to be able to reinforce patterns and best practices
  • A deep understanding of developing applications for massive scale and high-performance
  • Experience working with distributed teams
  • Proven ability to foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment, inspiring teams to achieve important goals together
  • Strong ability to coach developers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers
  • Experience working in a Cloud/IaaS environment such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Engine
