We have been retained by our client in the northeast area of Dallas, Texas to deliver a

Senior Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Technician with heavy power experience on a direct-hire, regular full-time basis. Our client has been involved with the manufacture of heavy industrial, commercial and military applications for large electric power inverters, rectifiers, power conversion / power converters, 3-Phase power, VSD s / VFDs, generators for the last 15+ years. The

Senior Electrical I&C Technician will be tasked with the in-house manufacture and assembly of VFD s, rectifiers, 3-phase power, AC/DC power supplies, including in-house testing of electrical power supply systems, tuning of harmonics, removing THD, calibration and verification including troubleshooting of controls of Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) and similar equipment. Also, travel to customer locations for short, usually 5-day visits, to set up, install, configure, test, start-up and commission power converters, rectifiers, VFD s, 3-phase power. Testing in test bays at home office in Dallas and in test bays at customer locations.We seek candidates an articulate and well-spoken candidate with heavy industrial electrical power conversion / VFD / rectifier / 3-phase power experience from any of these industries such as: power for manufacturing, solar power, wind power, power supplies to aircraft, power for heavy industrial manufacturing, shipping, or oil & gas drilling.

Desired Skill Set (all of 8 of these are not required, but preferred):This company desires a strong, senior electrical/instrumentation/controls technician candidate preferably with experience in:
  • VFD s / VSD s, Rectifiers, 3-phase power, power conversion, AC Drives, DC current, AC/DC conversion, variable speed drives, variable frequency drive assembly, troubleshooting, set up, configuration, testing, start-up and commissioning.
  • large power conversion from 50-60 hertz to 300-400 hertz, heavy power around to around 6000VA / 6kVA or even maybe close to 1,000,000VA/1000kVA
  • using a signal analyzer or manually with an oscilloscope to do harmonics tuning or to reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
  • troubleshooting the controls of Insulated-gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBT) to component or transistor level
  • proportional integral derivative controllers / PID controllers
  • Basic CAD
  • Mid-level Oscilloscope / O-scope / digital storage oscilloscope (DSO), test instruments
  • Expert Multi-meters
  • Travel required: 25%Must also be able to perform excellent verbal and written communication with team and with customers in a professional manner over the phone and in-person.

    Employment type: Regular Full-Time, Direct Hire, with client

    Compensation: $75,000 95,000 / year annual base salary + bonus + benefits + paid-vacation.Bonus of 15% to 20% of annual base salary is expected. Bonuses might be based on project delivery dates achieved.
