In this position, you will support the operations, maintenance, and handling of non-routine equipment and process control problems encountered at the plant.This position will be filled at one of four levels and pay ranges detailed below depending on the certification level of the successful candidate. The pay ranges include what you can currently expect to make during the probationary period (typically six months), as well as once you have completed probation and your pay increases by 5%.

Treatment Specialist-A $41.27 - $43.33

Treatment Plant Operator-B $35.66 - $37.44

Treatment Plant Operator-C $32.32 - $33.94

Treatment Plant Operator-D $29.31 - $30.78

Key areas of responsibility:

Operate a water treatment plant efficiently and comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations

Controlling, understanding, monitoring, and changing plant operation processes for conventional water treatment processes

Accurate data acquisition and maintaining records of the daily treatment operations

Troubleshooting routine, non-routine, and complex treatment processes, water quality issues, or equipment problems

Understanding of and experience with process instrumentation, SCADA process controls, and trending of treatment processes

Performing equipment maintenance; calibration and maintaining all process instrumentation

Operating and maintaining a water treatment facility on an assigned shift to provide 24/7/365 coverage

Performing sampling and testing on plant processes and interpreting results

Completing and accurately filing regulatory reports and pertinent legal documents

Writing training documents and SOPs for new operational procedures and/or equipment

Inventorying and ordering treatment chemicals

Mixing chemicals to proper/required concentrations

Adhering to, understanding, and reviewing the EPA Risk Management Program, chlorine system safety, discharge permits, and all other environmental procedures and concern

Understanding and using work management processes including planning, scheduling, and processing of work orders

Who You Are:

Colorado Water Treatment Operator Certification (A, B, C, or D) is highly preferred. Must successfully obtain a Colorado State Operator “D” Certification within six months of hire, and demonstrate the ability and desire to advance through the State Operator Certification Program

Knowledge or experience working in water operations or related fields is beneficial

Completion of an academic or technical program in water environment technologies is valued

An understanding of chemistry, biology, hydraulics, mathematics, and/or mechanical concepts preferred

Must be self-directed, motivated, and consistently exhibit sound judgment and excellent communication skills

Additional considerations and expectations:

While in training (approximately six months), you will be working four-day shifts. You will transition to your designated operator schedule once training is complete.

As the designated shift operator, you will be expected to work day shifts, including weekends and holidays, and overtime as business needs require.

Currently, this position will require you to work from 6:00 am-7:30 pm, 3 days in a row, followed by 4 days off. This is subject to change.

Additionally, periodic coverage for the night shift as needs arise due to vacation and sick time; time would be overtime added to your current shift, based on the availability of the current schedule.
