Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Laboratory Supervisor. We are willing to grow the right individual in this role with training and education.The Laboratory Supervisor will assist the Lab Manager in the administrative and technical activities of the laboratory to ensure efficient and effective operations and quality of patient services. Those activities include the organization of work, process improvement, problem solving, regulatory compliance and functions as a staff technician when necessary. The Laboratory Supervisor will assist with the supervision of employees, including direct observation of competency of technicians and phlebotomists, orientation of new staff members and serving as a mentor/role model. The Laboratory Supervisor will assume responsibility and provide guidance to employees in the Lab Managers absence.Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is a 45-bed hospital that serves rural and suburban populations in Roaring Spring, Altoona, and parts of Blair, Bedford, and Huntingdon counties. Takes initiative to ensure staff receive and complete required competencies and educations.Accurately and efficiently performs patient testing with little to no errors. Follows all required reporting protocol if errors should occur.Accuracy in performing QC/corrective action/failures/documentation with little errors.Works with Lab Manager to prepares schedules, assign duties, evaluate personnel, resolve personnel problems and makes recommendations regarding personnel matters.In conjunction with Manager, reviews Quality Control results, maintenance logs and reagent logs monthly.In conjunction with Manager, conducts, directs, and assists with special projects.Ability to apply knowledge of State and Federal regulations and Joint Commission requirements applicable to laboratory.Works with the Lab Manager in order to maintain efficient cost control programs and inventory management.In conjunction with the Manager, directs and participates in human resource management function for the department.Promotes effective interdepartmental relationships.Completes personnel competency and training.Ensures organizational adherence to applicable policies and procedures by all staff.Ensures operational adherence to applicable policies and procedures by all staff.Works with Lab ManagerAssists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.Performs the duties of a Technologist or Phlebotomist as necessary.Participates in continuing education programs as per job classification requirements. Keeps updated regarding Medical Center changes through meeting attendance and review of posted information; attends briefs, debriefs, and huddles.Abides by and references the Employee Handbook and other pertinent facility policies, including clinical, non-clinical, safety, and infection control.Job Requirements:Minimum Education:MT Certification preferred.Bachelor's or associate degree with appropriate training preferred.Current ASCP or NCA Certification preferred.BLS certified or willing to obtain within 6 months.Minimum Work Experience:3-5 years' experience as a Medical Technologist preferred.1-2 years' experience in a Supervisory/Leadership role.Required Skills:Knowledge of clinical laboratory services.Knowledge of laboratory equipment and information/computer system.Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail and maintain a positive attitude.Ability to communicate and work effectively with all Medical Center personnel, patients, and the general public.Competitive wage, benefits package, 401K, PTO, and onsite occupational health!Job: Laboratory Organization: Nason Medical Center Title: Laboratory Supervisor Location: Pennsylvania-Roaring Spring Requisition ID: 7466-1504
