Director of Communications and Media

Supervisor: Executive Pastor

Overview

The Director of Communications and Media will assist in setting the direction and lead the strategic implementation of all internal and external communications to consistently articulate, enable, and fulfill Covenant Church’s mission and vision. This individual will be a creative, innovative, strategic thinker, and a results-driven leader. The individual will also oversee all aspects of the Tech team of Covenant Church.

Responsibilities

Website

  • Lead all efforts related to the creation and development of Covenant Church website.
  • Proactively work to make sure Covenant Church maintains an effective presence on the web including style/presence, search engines, new technology.
  • Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) are posted regularly.

Promotions

  • Develop systems to organize, prioritize, and communicate promotional items related to Covenant Church
  • Create communication strategies to market, inform, and promote teaching series, big events, and other campaigns as assigned.
  • Oversee all written materials related to promotions.

Social Media

  • Manage ongoing social media messaging and communication strategies through coordination with others (e.g.; technology staff, ministry leads, ad-hoc project teams)
  • Creatively build followings of target demographics on various current social media outlets including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Design and Brand Management

  • Lead efforts to design all art and promotional materials related to church-wide activities with a high standard of creativity, excellence, and effectiveness.
  • Supervises projects that utilize paid and volunteer artists to develop graphic designs.
  • Monitor the brand of all promotional materials representing Covenant Church.
  • Oversee the use of logos and images that represent Covenant Church.

Creative Arts

  • Work with ministry leads and Covenant leadership to create consistency in messaging from all aspects.
  • Develop creative ways to communicate desired messages.
  • Join or lead brainstorming and creative sessions.
  • Enlist, equip, and encourage qualified volunteers such as artists, designers, photographers, and writers.

Media Relations

  • Create positive relationships with local and state media outlets.
  • Assist with efforts related to securing or responding to media attention
  • Develop policy and procedures related to media relations.

Tech Team Lead

  • Oversee the Tech Team of Covenant Church
  • Relate to the Worship Pastor in providing all tech requirements
  • Communicate and schedule team members
  • Build teams for sound, video, lighting, editing, production

Developer/Trainer

  • Train leaders in communicating the Covenant message
  • Have an active role in the public communication of information
  • Develop team leaders
  • Recruit and train team members

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have a breadth of education, experience, and skills that enable fulfillment of the responsibilities of the Director of Communications & Media as summarized above. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate a genuine call to ministry and a true servant’s heart with the following qualities:

  • A mature and growing faith in Christ that serves as a model to those they lead.
  • Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
  • Experience with media and communications or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrable competency in Adobe Creative Suite, social media platforms, and other applications needed to fulfill the responsibilities associated with this position.
  • Proven ability to plan and complete projects from beginning to end.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Action-oriented and displays focus, passion, and initiative. Takes appropriate action when something needs to be done.
  • Relates well to all kinds of people, builds effective relationships, communicates effectively both interpersonally and corporately.
  • Organized, creative thinker, and highly productive, working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Committed to improvement, seeks constructive criticism, understands strengths and weaknesses.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter who is adept at identifying strategies to overcome growth barriers in life and ministry.
  • Consummate learner who desires to learn new skills and approaches to developing people in their gospel identity as children of God, servants of love, and messengers of the gospel.
  • The ability to address conflict and initiate needed course corrections directly, fairly, and graciously.
  • Ability to lead teams

While this job description is comprehensive, the Director of Communications & Media may also be asked to perform other duties as requested.

This is a new 30 hour per week opportunity with potential growth for 40 within the first six months.

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
