Phenomenal Opportunity with an up and coming Café & Eatery for an Executive Chef who is passionate about working with local products, likes to have creative input and isn’t afraid of hard work.

We are looking to hire a credible and reliable Executive Chef to work alongside our kitchen staff and to resolve kitchen issues swiftly. The Executive Chef attracts and retains staff, sets the standard of hard work, maintains a cooperative relationship with team members, optimizes kitchen productivity and serves as the driving force of the team. You will train staff to use new recipes, cooking techniques and equipment, and oversee and execute efficient food preparation. You will oversee delivery of food supplies, prepare special dishes, assist in creative menu development seasonally and be responsible for overall kitchen operations during service.

To ensure success you will ensure you and the team deliver high-quality, cost-effective dishes promptly. Top candidates are creative, service-oriented, level-headed and love working seasonally with local products.

Executive Chef Responsibilities:

Ensuring promptness, freshness and quality of dishes.

Coordinating cooks' and bakers’ tasks alongside your own daily task list

Implementing hygiene and health policies and examining the kitchen for cleanliness.

Designing new recipes, planning menus and selecting plate presentations.

Reviewing staffing levels to meet service, operational and financial objectives.

Hiring and training kitchen staff, such as cooks, bakers, food preparation workers and dishwashers.

Performing administrative tasks, taking stock of food and equipment supplies

Working closely with distributors and local food vendors and farmers on ordering for optimal seasonality and freshness

Setting and monitoring performance standards for staff.

Obtaining feedback on food and service quality, and handling customer problems and complaints.

Executive Chef Requirements:

2+ years culinary education (preferred)

2+ years experience in a similar position (preferred)

Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices.

Proficient knowledge of human resources management.

Excellent knowledge of BOH systems, ordering and inventory.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Available to work on call, shifts, after hours, over weekends and on public holidays.
