Digital Print Shop - Print Production Assistant

If you want a rewarding career in design and print, we have a great opportunity for a motivated individual! Insignia Signs and Wraps is seeking to recruit an intelligent, resourceful, creative, friendly, and enthusiastic candidate as a Print Shop Assistant.

The Print Shop Assistant will layout personalized product mock-ups and setups upon customer specifications. The Assistant is also responsible for operating print jobs using digital print software and equipment. The Print Shop Assistant will organize and schedule jobs, keep up with jobs at the factory, and ensure the printer is being maintained and inventory levels are being managed. In addition, the Print Shop Assistant will assist the sales and marketing team to ensure customer satisfaction. The Print Shop Assistant will play a large role in ensuring all jobs are delivered in a timely manner. Finally, the Print Shop Assistant will be able to update the sales entry system.

Job Responsibilities:

The Job Breaks Down in 2-Parts: 30% Design & Installation and 70% Production.

Must be comfortable working on a variety of projects ranging from basic design for customers to applying vinyl on substrates and operating equipment.

Manage workflow from Factory to Customer

Manage Print and Production Room

Maintain Work In Progress (WIP) Report

Schedule Production

Follow up with jobs to ensure they are delivered on time

Create mockups of custom items for Sales Reps

Keep Sales Team in the loop of jobs status

Managing Mistakes, Replacements, Missing Items

Inventory and re-order materials and substrates as needed

Manage inventory and Place Orders with Vendors

Receiving of Products, Materials, and Substrates

Color Matching (Pantone Matching for Customers, Color Matching Materials, Color Matching Previous Years)

Recreating Logos for customers

Machine Calibration and Maintenance

Required Skills and Qualifications:

College degree or equivalent.

Previous sign shop, print shop or apparel shop experience (preferred). Non-digital print experience is okay, digital print is preferred.

Must be capable of working on his or her own, and able to be trusted to complete work in a timely fashion. The best candidate will be committed to punctuality each day. Personal and professional maturity is an absolute must.

Attention to detail.

Must be able to follow direction, take initiative and articulate design concepts.

Good communication skills: Must be comfortable talking to customers and answering phones.

A working knowledge of design, graphic arts terminology, processes, materials and tools (beneficial but not required).

Experience with application methods is desired. A candidate lacking such experience will be required to rapidly assimilate the relevant knowledge.

The selected candidate will have the ability to work despite numerous distractions that can interrupt workflow. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to successfully manage stress is crucial.

The Print Shop Assistant must be comfortable designing and creating with vector-based graphics software, Windows platforms, and Adobe Illustrator software. Strong knowledge of design software (Adobe Suite (Preferred) or the latest version of Carousel is a plus). Computer and Internet literacy is a must.

This position requires that the candidate can lift 25 - 55lbs.
