Build a Career that Matters at CGI's Lafayette CenterPosition Description The Application Engineer is responsible for Production Operations and Maintenance of a large scale enterprise system including deploying software releases and setting up/monitoring non-production test instances. This is a full time position with CGI Federal and will be based in Lafayette, LA. Occasional night/weekend work needed for configurations/deployments during outage windowsYour future duties and responsibilities Candidate will work on deployment of software releases and generate SQL scripts to support issue analysis and resolutions, and support application configuration changes during scheduled maintenance outage windows, when necessary. In additional, propose changes to process and system architecture to improve efficiency and reduce risk of application outages. Tasks: Deploy releases; application administration; instance set up, monitoring, O&M, issue resolution; patching; ticket analysis and support; end user support; system performance monitoring, shell scripting, DevOps, security analysis Functional Responsibilities: Collaborates closely with the client staff, functional team, and development team to translate client issues and concerns into workable solutions. Knowledge & Skills: Experience/familiarity with Unix (AIX) and shell scripting, java application servers, C applications, Oracle databases, application installation and configuration using AIX or Windows, SQL and database concepts.Required qualifications to be successful in this role One (1) year technical development/design experience in complex systems administration. Experience supporting applications by reviewing logs to identify root causes of issues, develops scripts to automate tasks. Additionally, supporting production Operations and Maintenance of a large-scale application including scheduling and execution of periodic and ad hoc software jobs as required by end users.
