The District Outreach Specialist assists with developing and implementing districtwide outreach, recruitment, and engagement efforts across the Pierce College service district. This position builds community awareness of Pierce College by coordinating outreach efforts with local high schools and community organizations, including campus tours, group field trips, and information sessions. The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills, be customer service-focused, be able to independently prioritize tasks while contributing to a dedicated team, and display strong and effective leadership.

This position reports directly to the District Outreach Manager. It requires regular and consistent attendance and is eligible for two (2) days of remote work.

The District Outreach Specialist will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

Commit to EDI training and professional development by attending conferences and seeking training opportunities.

Serve on various committees across the institution and assist with campus-wide events.

Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement

Acquire and maintain knowledge of current admissions processes, programs, and college activities. Present this information through interactive presentations, information sessions, tours/field trips, community events, and other events across the service district.

Implement meaningful outreach, recruitment, and engagement strategies that attract students from diverse populations through partnerships and strong relationships with community organizations and partners.

Collaborate with campus departments to organize and facilitate recruitment and outreach activities for the district and establish relationships with campus departments to maintain consistent messaging to community and school stakeholders.

Establish and maintain a positive and professional representation of Pierce College in the schools and community through relationship-building and outreach efforts.

Coordinate with staff and faculty to help cover local fairs and events when necessary.

Stay current on current trends in the community and schools to adjust outreach efforts.

If multilingual, may be asked to translate admissions information and materials to prospective students.

Administrative

Assist with compiling a monthly report on the record of outreach activities conducted.

Write general messages about various Pierce College timelines and events to all students.

Respond promptly to phone, email, and mail inquiries from community and prospective students.

Communicate with schools and groups about arranging campus visits and adding these to the outreach calendar.

Other duties as assigned

Experience Required

One (1) year of recruitment or student services experience.

Experience working effectively in an education or social service delivery setting.

Experience proficiently using Microsoft Office, intermediate word processing, and spreadsheet experience.

Special Requirements

The successful candidate must consent to and pass a criminal background check

after a conditional offer of employment.

Must have a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle to travel to recruitment sites.

Ability to travel extensively (regionally) and work extended hours and weekends on short notice if needed.

Ability to lift, move, and push materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications and primary databases.

Able to learn new software solutions quickly.
