Mapping Data Technician Role Description Mapping Data Technician ( further referred as 'MDT') works on keeping Maps Data current and reflective of real world changes. To that extent, the MDT works on issues submitted by end users of Maps or tests the location results of user queries submitted via Search (Web) or Maps interface. The MDT is expected to comprehend the user input correctly, and basis internal / external resources coupled with defined policies, assess whether any changes are required to Maps. If any changes are required, MDT is usually expected to make the change (provided the nature of feature is within scope of the project). The Mapping Data Technician should have a basic understanding of GIS and mapping tools and be able to complete basic map edits, data maintenance tasks and basic analysis of mapping edits and issues. Role & Responsibilities ? Work with mapping imagery and data to make edits with exceptional quality and accuracy. ? Use mapping tools and knowledge to continually improve map accuracy and edits. ? Analyze map data and make decisions based on policy to complete map workflows. ? Provide quantitative and qualitative insights to mapping processes as part of post-project analysis or deep-dive. ? Run QA tools and answer key quality questions about imagery. ? Enter key mapping metadata and other information as requested with high accuracy. ? Handle complex and time-sensitive data modeling questions. ? Contribute to determine the root cause of problems or incorrect edits. ? Proactively identify and raise systemic problems with tools or processes. ? Investigate complex problems, provide insights, and propose solutions to mitigate, prevent, or solve them. ? Ensure end to end resolution of the issues (per policy) worked upon along with 100% SLA adherence ? Contribute to project bugs, workflows, worksheets, scripts, and dashboards. ? Collect data and provide domain expertise as part of post-project reports or deep-dives. ? Use research and discernment skills to make map edits of the highest quality. Experience / Skills ? 0 - 6 months of experience ? High school diploma or equivalent ? Technological savviness - able to quickly understand Maps, Mapmaker related products which are technical in nature ? Comfortable with a rapidly-changing environment ? Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail
