Job Title: Farm Tour Guide

Location: Keala Farm, Kilauea, HI

Job Type: Part-time, 10-20 hrs/week

Start Date: Mid October 2024

Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Farm Tour Guide to lead engaging and educational tours at our tropical fruit farm. The ideal candidate will have a passion for agriculture, sustainability, and educating others about tropical fruit varieties, their cultivation, and the importance of eco-friendly farming practices. This position requires a valid driver’s license, as the role involves driving farm vehicles to transport guests to and from the farm.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead informative and interactive tours that educate visitors about various tropical fruit species, farming techniques, and the farm’s history.

Drive guests safely to and from the farm using designated farm vehicles.

Provide in-depth explanations of tropical fruit cultivation, harvesting, and the history of the land.

Answer visitor questions and encourage participation in hands-on experiences, such as fruit tasting and tree identification.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all guests during the tour, adhering to safety protocols and farm guidelines.

Assist in organizing and maintaining tour schedules, ensuring all groups receive a comprehensive and enjoyable experience.

Maintain farm vehicles and ensure they are in good working condition for tours.

Participate in farm-related events and special projects, promoting the farm’s mission and educational outreach.

Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of tropical fruit species, farming practices, or a willingness to learn quickly.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences of all ages.

Passion for agriculture, sustainability, and eco-conscious living.

Friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic personality with a focus on customer service.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to varying group sizes and tour demands.

Previous experience in education, agriculture, tourism, or related fields is preferred but not required.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
