General Job Description

The core mission of the assembly worker is to efficiently and accurately assemble large steel building panels in accordance with plans and specifications and as directed by others. The building panels are comprised of metal cladding, insulation and steel components. The assembly worker must be able to operate all-non-specialized shop equipment as well as hand and power tools. The assembly worker must be skilled in material handling, mechanical assembly, and be able to maintain a safe work environment through organization and housekeeping. The ability to understand written and verbal instruction and to follow drawings and work instruction is critical in this position. All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications Required

Competent in a trade and able to apply these skills to multiple tasks.

Ability to read and interpret drawings and work instruction.

Ability to select the proper tool for the tasks and ensure proper operation.

Experience with a variety of hand and power tools as well as shop equipment.

Metal building installation a plus.

High school diploma, general education degree or vocational degree.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 25 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday if required. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This position requires physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities in a primarily production environment. The work environment characteristics here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

General

Applicant must provide complete work history with employer references for last three employers, or past five years, whichever is most relevant.

Hourly rate, starting at $18/hour, DOE. Dogwood Industries offers a medical/dental/vision plan, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan to eligible employees.
