POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for production process integrity and leading Continuous Improvement efforts through a combined focus on Manufacturing, Quality & Engineering concerns. Related duties include: process and product handling improvements, development of work cell layouts to increase efficiency and lessen part damage, improved ergonomics and improved templates, fixtures and carts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Creates Work Instructions for specific processes and products

Audits processes to work instructions and insures consistency through Process Audits

Assists NPD process with FMEA activities in support of manufacturing

Assists work cell designs, equipment needs, and process layout in support of successful launch to production

Drives Continuous Improvement through participation in SQDC huddles in support of employee ideas

Review and modify current production methods to reduce rework and increase production efficiencies

Verify the correct production processes and procedures are being performed

Assist with root cause failure analysis (RCFA)

Occasionally inspect product to ensure conformance to requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree in process, industrial, manufacturing or similar engineering field

3-5 years direct manufacturing experience preferred

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Experience in Lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen or other Continuous Improvement tools.

Proficient in CAD software as well as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.

Ability to use various inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers and height gauge.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret shop prints and drawings, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
