POSITION: TOW TRUCK OPERATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Black & White Towing Inc. has been in the towing industry for 70 years. The majority of its towing is in municipal towing for the City of Los Angeles, City of San Fernando, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and other local enforcement agencies, along with a variety of other commercial customer accounts.

Black & White Towing, Inc. is looking to hire a full-time tow truck operator. Days and hours are to be determined. This position may require days, evenings, nights, week-ends & holidays. Our facility operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Top candidates must be able to work in a fast paced environment, be detail oriented, able to multi-task & have good knowledge of the San Fernando Valley. Applicants must have a clean valid California driver's license and are required to pass a criminal background check, live scan and drug test. We offer a competitive salary, benefit package. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Tow truck operators provide emergency road services. This can be for private citizens, businesses or government agencies. Tow operators perform emergency road service, towing, accident recovery, impoundment or abandoned vehicle recovery using an assigned tow truck and towing equipment correctly as trained. Present to the customer a professional self-image and Company image through excellent service, safe operation, and timeliness. Maintain truck and equipment in compliance with Company guidelines and Official Police Garage guidelines. Perform necessary documentation timely and correctly according to procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Possess correct and valid driver's license.

 No more than one preventable accident or two moving violations within three consecutive years.

 Driving record must meet the requirements of company insurance carrier and company fleet safety program.

 Present clean, well-groomed appearance.

 Demonstrate positive customer service attitude - both to co-workers (internal customers) and customers.

 Possess good verbal communication, legible handwriting, and basic math functionality.

 Ability to safely lift 75 pounds unassisted.

 Ability to sit in vehicle seat for extended periods, significant amount of driving, bending, lifting, listening to and responding to audio communications.

 Successfully pass drug tests in compliance with Company Policy and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

 Must submit to and pass background check and live scan as per Company policy and Company's contractual requirements.

 Possess basic mechanical aptitude.

 Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Language Skills: Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Spanish speaking

 Other Skills and Abilities: A general understanding of vehicle mechanics, or the ability to make minor repairs to automobiles such as, installation of a spare tire, battery charging
