We are looking for someone who can ensure the region operates smoothly and safely by effectively utilizing automated control systems, enhancing communication, and managing incidents. DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will oversee technical personnel involved in the operations of the Western Regional Transportation Management Center and the Freeway Surveillance and Control System, while also managing shift operators in a continuous 24/7 environment. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the development and refinement of standard operating procedures and protocols for the center's operations. Additionally, you will participate in various Statewide Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) committees to promote ITS initiatives as required. You will manage the contractor for the Freeway Service Patrol Program by establishing contract specifications, reviewing contractor operations, and addressing any issues that arise. Coordination with the Pennsylvania State Police will also be part of your duties, particularly in dispatching Freeway Service Patrol Vehicles to address incidents during operational hours. You will oversee the daily management of the Pittsburgh High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, utilizing closed caption television (CCTV) and automated controls to ensure proper operation. Furthermore, you will be responsible for updating the Incident Management and TMC Databases and providing reports to supervisors and other stakeholders, as well as conducting and reviewing engineering studies related to congestion and capacity on freeways and expressways. Work schedule varies to cover this 24-hour Traffic Management Center, with a 30 minute lunch period.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Regional Traffic Management Center Operator or

Two years of experience evaluating and coordinating information related to traffic data, incidents or conditions.
