Apply Today!    Where You Will Work  In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.  DescriptionUnder limited supervision manage all aspect of assigned area of responsibility including daily production, product quality, environmental management safety and maintenance. This includes strategic planning to improve overall value delivered in terms of risk management, throughput, recovery or reliability. Supervise through Senior Supervisors, supervisors or other superintendents in direct reporting responsibilities as needed.

Work with Managers and Superintendent for functional area to establish tactical and strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures in assigned area within the business.

Direct Supervisors, Senior Supervisors and Superintendents and other staff in daily operations. Inspect daily operations and projects in progress and upon completion to ensure quality of work. Provide administrative and technical direction to staff; interpret policies and procedures established by regulatory agencies.

Oversee and recommend the selection of key staff. Participate in the selection of staff.

Work with employees to correct deficiencies. Implement disciplinary procedures and recommend terminations. Investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.

Forecast necessary funds for staffing, materials and supplies, and capital improvement projects. Submit budget recommendations and justifications; monitor and control expenditures.

Develop, plan, and coordinate the work plan for assigned projects and responsibilities, which may include project management, cost estimates and program development. Coordinate work with other units and site departments.

Provide operational/maintenance information and resources to site management and other departments. Answer questions and provide information to the public.

Review Capital Improvement Plans and make recommendations. Evaluate infrastructure, facilities and operating systems for needed maintenance and repair.

Determine the need for outside consultants and/or contractors within scope of authority and coordinate their activities of

QualificationsMinimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an Engineering discipline or business-related field and five (5) years of experience in engineering, related scientific field or operations including lead or supervisory experience

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry or related discipline and seven (7) years of experience in engineering, related scientific field or operations including lead or supervisory experience, OR

High School Diploma/GED AND ten (10) years of plant experience in projects and maintenance engineering.

Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering

Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions

Skilled in managing large/complex engineering projects

Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification

Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required, depending upon the department/site.

What We Offer You The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently  $113,000-$158,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
