We in the UW Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences need someone with skill, intelligence and tact to provide us with administrative and financial leadership in the challenging years to come.If this piques your interest, we urge you to apply for the role of Administrator. In this role you will report to the Chair of the Department and be responsible for managing the daily operations of a dynamic and diverse department that includes 26 permanent faculty members, 12 staff members, nearly 100 undergraduate majors and 130 graduate students. With general direction from the Department Chair, the Administrator acts independently and ensures that University policies and procedures are followed. Those responsibilities include general administration, business planning, financial management, personnel, facilities support, research project support, development, and other functions as necessary.RESPONSIBILITIES

Fiscal oversight. Managing approximately $9 million annually in revenue, and providing the Chair with fiscal forecasts using Workday Finance. Interfacing with UW Continuum College to oversee some of our academic program financial administration.

Daily Administration. Directly supervise three staff members and provide guidance to other staff supervisors regarding HR policies. Oversee payroll in Workday; manage and process faculty academic appointments (searches, promotion and tenure, and reappointments), oversee procurement and accounts receivable.

Sponsored Research. Oversee both pre-award and post-award processes and monthly financial reports for PI. Participate in grant close-out, cost share reporting, faculty effort reporting and sponsor reports.

Supervision and Staff Management: Supervise three individuals (2.5 FTE)

Oversee all the department space including offices, conference rooms and computer lab. Supervise regular equipment purchases, upgrades and repairs.

Other duties as required.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree. At least six years of experience budgeting and planning in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility in education, government or a not-for-profit setting.Additional Requirements:

Demonstrated experience hiring and training staff.

Demonstrated experience in problem solving and analytical skills.

Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally using a variety of platforms with a diverse community of staff, faculty and students.Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements. DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
