Genesis10 is seeking a Data Architect / Information Architect for a direct hire, permanent position located in Overland Park, KS.

Description: The Data/Information Architect is responsible for data movement, storage, and modeling across the company's infrastructure. To use expert specialist skills and knowledge to define and deliver data solutions and to contribute to the development and implementation of IT plans in line with the overall strategy of IT and the business. This role will interact with both business and technical stakeholders to guide enterprise data design and development efforts and be expected to resolve large and complex data issues that cross multiple business disciplines and business units. Responsibilities also include monitoring and configuration of the company data architecture to provide optimal support for the company's information systems on both a short and long term basis. The Data/Information Architect will be expected to possess superior skills and experience over a broad range of data concerns including but not limited to: data modeling, database management, and SQL language development.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex data systems and solutions.
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support data analysis and business intelligence
  • Create and maintain current- and target-state data architectures
  • Define and manage standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality
  • Ensure technology solutions are in alignment with data architecture principles and target state
  • Oversee end-to-end data life cycle management activities
  • Work with IT teams, business analysts, and data analytics teams to understand data consumers' needs and develop solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics.
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to develop data systems strategies and solutions
  • Review and provide guidance to infrastructure and development efforts which impact data systems
  • Contribute to overall architecture initiatives through interaction with other roles in the enterprise architecture team
  • Research and propose innovations in data systems which facilitate overall enterprise data strategy
  • Contribute substantially to the design of enterprise disaster recovery and business continuity strategy from the perspective of data systems
  • Develop and actively participate in data governance initiatives
  • Participate in research and provide recommendations for data management technologies and tool selection
  • Lead analysis and recommend solutions for security requirements related to data systems

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in roles related to data systems in software development efforts (e.g. DBA, data modeling, SQL development, etc.)
  • Minimum 2 years serving as a Data Architect
  • Good knowledge of data management, data integration, and database development techniques
  • Ability to relate architectural decisions and recommendations to business needs
  • Ability to regularly learn and adopt new technology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and work with diverse projects teams
  • Experience in data warehousing, data modeling, and/or data analysis
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, Hadoop, Teradata)
  • Experience with ETL and other business intelligence tools
  • Experience developing reference architecture, principles and standards
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical information to technical and non-technical contacts
  • Experience implementing both OLTP and OLAP database systems including data warehouses
  • Experience with distributed application architecture and the database related requirements

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with implementation and support of Cloud data solutions
  • Experience in building disaster recovery and business continuity strategies with regards to data systems
  • Deep Experience in both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases
  • Experience fully implementing data governance processes
  • Experience using Erwin Data Modeler
