Business Intelligence Engineer Seattle, WA Job Description The temp BIE would own SLS-side maintenance of the existing scorecard data and SQL infrastructure, as well as perform the heavy lifting on checking and guiding data table/SQL updates by partner teams. Having an understanding of the data table architecture, they would also partner with LMAQ and other teams to deep dive data anomalies like RTS-Other, contact compliance nuances, seatbelt signal nuances, etc. They would also own production and updates to the SLS WBR deck (excel file).Specific tasks the temp BIE would own:

  • Provide guidance and code reviews for SQL updates to metric and scorecard scoring and aggregation logic.
  • Deep dive basic Scorecard issues, including reading SQL code to determine SQL logic bugs, identifying issue root cause and summarizing in brief write-ups, and running incentive adjustment calculator (a large excel file) to calculate incentive adjustments.
  • Update and maintain a scorecard adjustment calculator.
  • Perform ad hoc QA, e.g. for new metric launches.
  • Perform ad hoc data analysis, e.g. deep dive seatbelt issue patterns
  • Own SLS WBR deck production each week
  • Build and maintain data dashboards for internal users using Tableau, Quick Site, or similar.
  • Own pulling data points for quarterly scorecard docs, QBRs, etc
  • Publish weekly scorecard and incentive reports (backup role) as needed using existing macro scripts
  • Required Skills • Able to work until 11:59pm PT on Tuesdays each week. This may not be required most weeks. Any time spent working >8 hours on Tuesdays can be removed from the Friday workload later that week (so total workload of 40 hours for the week is maintained) • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong, demonstrated customer obsession. • Ability to learn and incorporate feedback into workflows. • Strong ability to read and write SQL including ETL, selecting/filtering/joining data, case statements, working with basic data types, and aggregate functions. • Strong ability to analyze data and apply basic statistical techniques and math functions to data (e.g. compute a new scale for a data set) • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data manipulation, pivot tables, Conditional Formatting, copying and pasting data, and the following Excel functions: INDEX, MATCH, SUMIFS, and COUNTIFS. • Strong ability to design efficient and effective architectures, from the ground up, for new business information tools and processes. • Ability to prioritize features and manage feature intake. • Ability to manage project statuses on a project plan/tracker (with guidance on status from broader team)Preferred Skills • Master's or Bachelor degree in Data Science, Engineering, or related field. • Demonstrated experience in conducting outlier/anomaly detection through Excel and/or other programming languages. • Ability to write scripts in a statistical programming language (e.g. python, R). • Ability to write basic Excel VBA scripts to automate workflows. • Experience building dashboards in Tableau, Quick Site, or similar. • Ability to write SOPs (i.e. step-by-step instructions how to execute a task) • Experience building data flow diagrams. Typical task breakdown and rhythm:
    • 30% writing SQL and doing code reviews in SQL
    • 20% liaising between business PMs and partner BIEs on projects, improvements, and architecture
    • 10% building code reviewing in Excel
    • 20% data analysis
    • 20% pulling data points or creating dashboards
