Job Title – Lead Teacher, 11-Month (OYCP)
Hours/Days – Normal Business Hours, Monday – Friday
Based at the OYCP facility 10 minutes east of Bend

Summary of Duties:
This is a lead role that is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the educational and
classroom aspects of the OYCP alternative educational program which may include the
following: instruction, behavior management, scheduling, enrollment decisions, and
curriculum development; assists Youth Education Manager with local and state school
reviews; and reviews, coordinates, and researches professional development opportunities
for teaching staff. Provides day-to-day supervision over OYCP teaching staff in coordination
with the Youth Education Manager. As a representative of COIC, the position also requires
cooperation and on-going liaison activities with OYCP management and state employed staff
members, as well as with the Oregon Department of Education.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) Licensure with Language Arts, Math, Science, or Social Studies Endorsement, PLUS two years of work experience in a related field; OR the equivalent combination of education, licensure, and experience in a related field may be substituted. Two years of supervisory experience are required. Additional preferences:
- TSPC English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement; TSPC Multiple Endorsements; Experience in Alternative Education; Bilingual in Spanish.
- Three years or more of K-12 educational leadership experience is preferred with demonstrated results in improving academic performance of students.
- Effective interpersonal skills in managing and interacting with diverse groups of stakeholders.
- Understand and meet the needs of culturally diversified communities.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and work as a team.
- Exhibit courtesy and professionalism to represent COIC in a manner that will maintain and promote the positive reputation of the organization.
- Exercise discretion in confidential matters, maintain client and agency confidentiality.
- Practical experience in group facilitation, counseling techniques, and teaching methods.
- Proven skill in record keeping procedures and practices.
- Functional understanding of case management.
- Functional understanding of Microsoft Excel and Access.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Hold a current Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) Licensure with endorsement(s) in Language Arts, Math, Science, or Social Studies.
- Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
- Must have a valid personal driver's license with valid insurance, access to a personal vehicle and/or other means of equivalent reliable transportation.
- Must successfully pass a non-DOT (minor safety sensitive) pre-employment drug test.
- Must complete an Oregon Department of Education fingerprinting and criminal record check and agree to release that information to the Department of Education.
