Back-Up Administrator

Location: Detroit, MI Description: Our client is currently seeking a Back-Up Administrator This job will have the following responsibilities:

• The Back-up Administrator will provide technical and administrative services for the customer in a highly complex storage and backup environments.
• The back-up administrator will demonstrate the ability to analyze complex hardware and software issues associated with backup-related technologies, including Avamar, Data Domain, Data Protection Advisor and Enterprise Vault.
• Analyze complex hardware and software issues associated with complex storage
• Strong background in enterprise data protection, management and protection solutions. Must be able to implement new data protection solutions, manage change, and add backup policies in a large-scale, mission-critical storage environment. Must have wide-ranging experience and the ability to apply that experience along with professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in effective ways. Strong organizational skills are necessary. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Demonstrate domain knowledge in storage, data management and data protection technologies and be able apply the knowledge of these methodologies to the storage, protection, retention, reclamation, and disaster recovery.
• Report on performance and capacities and make allocation recommendations based on trending.
• Resolve complex problems with little or no guidance. Independently research and promote specialized technical solutions.
• Develop recommendations in support of any project objectives. Develop logical and physical technical artifacts for review.
• Maintain technical awareness of developments within the backup and storage technology industry and evaluate the applicability of those developments to the customer.
• Work closely with external vendors and other personnel in order to optimize and facilitate the best solution to meet the needs of the business.

• EMC Certified Professional with over 8 years of experience in IT industry and 5 years of experience in Backup implementation, Architecture, administration and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in EMC Backup and Recovery technologies Avamar, Data Domain and Data Protection Advisor
• Experience with NDMP Backups
• EMC Certification
• Proficient in installing, configuring and administering Avamar 5.x and above.
• Extensive Experience in Total Recovery of the servers in the event of disasters.
• Experience in Integrating VMware with Avamar for Virtual Machine backups.
• Experience with Avamar with Data Domain.
• Proficient in performing client migrations between technologies and also technology refreshes.
• Proficient in allocating storage to different Operating System servers from different storage arrays
• Proficient in performing zoning configuration on different fiber channel switches for storage and tape libraries.
• Have ample knowledge in creating custom reports based on client requirements using Data Protection Advisor
• Expertise in documenting, writing scripts, guiding and mentoring Junior associates.
• Effective communication skills, team building skills, ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Expertise in configuring Windows 2000 2003 server TCP/IP, Active Directory, DNS DHCP Servers.
• Ample knowledge in multi-vendor OS like Solaris, RedHat Linux and Microsoft Windows.
• Experience in 24X7 / on-call support in a datacenter environment with more than 500 servers
