Linux System Administrator
Description We are seeking a Linux System Administrator for a New Mexico based organization. This position will mainly focus on Linux system administration, with an emphasis on virtualization, storage, and security. The role involves developing and maintaining Linux-based computing systems, including databases, predominantly on-site. The position offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.Responsibilities include: Day to day Linux administration support Evaluating, designing, implementing, and optimizing system configurations and/or software setups to transition existing systems to a more advanced environment. Selecting the best virtualization solutions and technologies based on research and security needs. Collaborating with vendors and purchasing to acquire necessary hardware and software. Architecting virtualization and storage solutions to support computing requirements, with a particular focus on supporting virtual machines designed for databases and incorporating redundancy. Planning and architecting network and security solutions to support physical and virtual servers and storage across single and multiple locations. Building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and migrating Linux-based virtual machines to support research databases according to project-specific requirements. Evaluating the existing environment and identifying research computing needs. Facilitating scalable on-premises research computing solutions.
