Project Scope: Our client is looking for a System Engineer with the following skills and experience: Responsibilities:
- Develop and monitor systems telemetry
- Design and implementation of tools.
- Report on and perform corrective action for systemic issues, developing internal tools and validation.
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
- Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work independently with developers to implement those fixes
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
- Provide 3rd and 4th tier support
- Responsible for the development, procurement, installation and maintenance of systems level software and utilities for both existing and new systems.
- Analyzes and evaluates current and projected applications and/or systems, with being a liaison with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Manage ticket queue and meet SLAs accurately documenting steps taken for resolution
- Monitor performance, availability and conditions in our heterogeneous computer and monitoring application environment
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related subject
- 7+ years of job related and software development experience.
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux based environments.
- Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g. Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGIX)
- Solid Cloud experience, preferably in Azure and/or AWS
- Solid scripting skills (e.g. shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
- Solid Networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
- Should possess strong analytical skills, and effective interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a wide range of users with varying levels of technical proficiency.
- Passion for investigating issues to find root cause
- Heavy MS Excel and Outlook knowledge
- Mature PowerShell scripting skills
- Strong SQL management skills
