Caregiver in Cerritos
Shift: Monday to Friday Afternoon: 3:00pm to 6:00pm
Client: 55-year old disabled woman, Developmentally Delayed with Cerebral Palsy. Great personality, funny and kind! Non Verbal, Non Ambulatory. Enjoys watching movies, music and coloring or painting. Lives with family that work outside of the house and needs assistance with daily living activities during the Afternoons until family returns from work.
Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years, or more, caregiving.
Transportation: Must have valid drivers license and dependable transportation.
Pay: Depends upon your experience. $16-$18/hr
Basic Job Requirements:
Afternoon Responsibilities:
Client arrives home from Day Program around 3:45 PM (Bus Driver will Honk)
Provide timely assistance with toileting, allowing for a 20-minute visit and recording details in logbook.
Prepare and serve a nutritious snack: Meal Replacement Drink and Yogurt or Fruit Cup.
Housekeeping Responsibilities:
Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized living environment.
Daily:
Get Client off the bus around 4 pm (the driver will Honk)
Take Client to the bathroom (leave for 20 minutes); record in potty book
Give Client a snack (meal replacement drink & yogurt or fruit cup)
Clean Client bedroom
Wash Dishes
Maintain stove and microwave when dirty
Throw away garbage from the client bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and replace bags
Weekly Tasks:
Wash, Fold and Put Away Client’s Laundry (M–W–F)
Change Client’s Bed Sheets (once weekly or when dirty/soiled)
Vacuum Client’s Bedroom (Twice Weekly)
Clean Client’s Bathroom (Twice Weekly)
Sweep and Mop Kitchen, Dining Room, Bathroom and Hallways (Twice Weekly)
Clean refrigerator (Once Weekly)
Toileting Assistance: Provide support with toileting by safely transferring the patient from her wheelchair to the toilet and back. Assist with personal hygiene by gently wiping the patient to maintain cleanliness and dignity. This task is performed in accordance with her established schedule and needs.
Companionship Responsibilities: Provide emotional support and companionship to the client by engaging in activities. Foster a positive and uplifting environment through interactive experiences, such as listening to music, watching movies, and participating in light recreational activities. The caregiver's presence will help enhance the patient’s quality of life by ensuring she feels valued, understood, and connected.
Qualifications:
Experience: 3 to 5 years of caregiving experience, preferably with individuals with special needs.
Transportation: Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Communication Skills: Good communication skills with a proficient understanding of English.
Professionalism: Reliable, punctual, and professional appearance and demeanor.
Background Check: Must agree to a background check.
References: Provide two references from previous caregiving positions.
