The Executive Director of Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) Administration at MD Anderson Cancer Center is a high-level position with direct responsibility for maintaining and further evolving the highly collaborative programs in basic science, clinical, translational, and population-based research on which the cancer center is based. The incumbent oversees the administration and operations of the CCSG, ensuring alignment with the center's strategic goals. This role is pivotal in managing the infrastructure supporting the CCSG, optimizing compliance with National Cancer Institute (NCI) guidelines, and enhancing operational efficiency across programs. The Executive Director integrates multidisciplinary initiatives to drive research, improve patient care, and promote education, while also fostering a culture of equal opportunity and representation across the center's workforce and outreach efforts. They serve as a key liaison between leadership and staff to ensure seamless operations, financial management, and program sustainability.KEY FUNCTIONSI. Strategic Planning & Financial Oversight:Assists in the development and implementation of the MD Anderson Scientific Priorities, ensuring alignment with the strategic plans across the institution. Manages fiscal activities, including budget coordination, financial analysis, and grant administration, and oversees the monitoring of revenue cycle activities and compliance with regulatory standards for the CCSG. Facilitates efficient and effective communication between senior and program leadership to ensure that MCC research meets the highest standards for speed, safety, effectiveness, and quality in a manner that enhances the reputation of the organization. Provides forward looking, strategic leadership to ensure Cancer Center research projects align with new funding opportunities. Participates as a member of the leadership team for Division operations.II. Administration & Leadership:Directs, monitors, coordinates, and evaluates the comprehensive administrative operations encompassing research, clinical, educational, and outreach activities at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. This includes managing the academic programs outlined in the NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) and other multidisciplinary cancer-focused research initiatives. The Executive Director works closely with the CCSG Associate Center Director for Administration, Associate Directors, and Program Leaders. Directs the MCC membership committee processes to be in compliance with CCSG/P30 expectations requirements. Integrates innovative and creative best practices across the research community, ensuring a level of customer service and support, which readily enables faculty and research staff to dedicate their efforts toward direct research activities. Advises the CCSG Associate Center Director for Administration on all matters pertaining to research administration and operations and assists with the duties of the CCSG Associate Center Director for Administration as needed. Completes annual surveys of MCC membership to determine effectiveness of meeting member's scientific, programmatic, and research infrastructure needs.III. Data Management and Compliance:Collaborate with research analytics and data management teams to collect and analyze data for various initiatives and specifically for CCSG reporting. Ensure adherence to institutional and regulatory standards for proposals and activities. Partner with sponsored research administration to recommend and implement procedures that improve organizational efficiency and compliance. Conducts on-going review and assessment of processes and procedures to ensure the implementation of best practices for research and research administration. Creates and updates performance boards to ensure institutional compliance and optimal performance. Develops and implements performance metrics, including monitoring of the key performance indicators reported to senior leadership. Designs and disseminates program metrics performance summaries, scorecards, and dashboards. Develops and effectively implements performance metrics in making strategic process and business decisions. Applies metric driven and strategic analysis in the review, evaluation, and on-going assessment of all administrative functions. Monitor compliance with agency and University policies and requirements. Interpret policy and guidelines; provide guidance, recommendations, instruction, and facilitation for implementation of the policy and guidelines in each unique situation.IV. People Management & Research Quality Improvement:Provides strategic guidance and oversees a team responsible for identifying funding resources and conducting outreach to federal and not-for-profit funding agencies regarding future opportunities; identify funding opportunities and targeted dissemination; and oversee outreach and training activities designed to support extramural research. Responsible for a team that provides expert advice and support to Principal Investigators in the development of complex submissions, assuring the science is crafted consistent with PI's vision and is well coordinated across all elements of the proposal. Lead and supervise staff involved in various aspects of grant administration and project execution. Provide guidance and support to team members, facilitate their professional development, and ensure effective collaboration and communication within the team.V.
