PT Diesel Mechanic

OVERVIEW: Airport Drayage is a medium sized family business that has been operating in the Portland area for 65 years. Airport Drayage’s focus in the market is on engagements with customers where Airport Drayage’s expertise in managing transportation networks and building supply chain solutions across multiple modes brings value to its clients through improved management and measuring of transportation costs and through greater efficiencies that lower overall supply chain costs. Airport Drayage has experienced significant growth through a combination of internally generated new business and through the acquisition of other businesses.

The purpose of this role is to execute on the Airport Drayage Co. strategic goals and direction by managing our fleet of 40-50 power units and 40-50 non-power units to ensure the reliability and safety of our fleet. This will lead into meeting the division and company’s overall strategic objectives. The position is responsible for a consistent high level of service quality, safety precautions, clear and complete communications, profitability and cost-efficient operations as they pertain to our fleet.

Job Responsibilities:

Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines

Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes

Responsible for annual maintenance reports on all assets both power and non-power

Interprets diagnostic test results accurately

Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans

Collaborates with other diesel mechanics to come up with creative solutions

Presents reports and plans to the executive team for approval

Advises executive team on repair options and costs

Completes test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly

Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely

Follows all motor vehicle repair shop regulations and standards

Qualifications:

Class B CDL

2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic

Strong communication skills that are clear and can be adaptive to those receiving the communication

Able to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently

Able to work independently

Salary: $36.00 - $38.00 per hour

Schedule:

8 hour shift

2-3 Days per Week

Experience:

Diesel engine repair: 2 years (Preferred)

Mechanical knowledge: 2 years (Required)
