Plant Manager
Plant manager is responsible for the overall performance of the plant in accordance with the contract between Veolia and the Client. The Plant Manager will oversee operations and maintenance ensuring the safe, compliant, cost effective, profitable, efficient and reliable operation of the facilityMain Responsibilities: SAFETYPlant manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture among the employees working at the plant. In particular the plant manager is responsible for:Ensuring that all activities performed at the plant are completed safely and in accordance with the safety standards of Veolia.Promoting activities finalized to improve the safety culture and the safety of all activities performed at the plant.Planning the required training for compliant and safe operationsEnsuring all incidents, accidents and near misses are reported in accordance with the Veolia procedures.Organizing and if required, leading investigation on unsafe acts and incidents The plant manager will receive support and guidance from specialized safety advisors, but he/she is ultimately the person responsible for the safety performance of the plant/contract.PROFIT AND LOSS MANAGEMENTPlant manager is responsible for the financial performance of the plant/contract. The plant manager is also responsible for:The preparation of the required budgets and forecasts in accordance with the requirements of Veolia, providing suitable explanations supporting the proposed numbers.Producing all the required information on the financial performance of the plant/contract: this includes accruals, explanations, documentation and reporting on a regular basis (typically monthly).Investigating and explaining financial performance which are deviating from the expected baseline, proposing improvement plans and strategies when required.Researching, planning, targeting and controlling reductions in costs of operations.Monitoring and approving site expenditures,The plant manager will receive support and guidance from the finance department, however he/she is ultimately the person responsible for the financial performance of the plant/contract.CLIENT AND CONTRACT MANAGEMENTPlant manager is responsible to ensure the Veolia plant operations are meeting all the contractual requirements. The plant manager is also responsible for:Creating regular reports required by the client/contract to be shared and updated.Communicating with the client in relation to day to day activities and contract requirementsPreparing invoices in accordance with the contract in a timely and accurate manner.Ensuring Veolia entitlement under the contracts are met by the clients.Establishing a strong collaborative relationship with the clients and their representatives.OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE PLANTPlant manager is responsible for the efficient, safe and compliant operations and maintenance of the plant in accordance with the contract. The plant manager is responsible for:Establishing, reviewing, perfecting and documenting operating proceduresEnsuring adequate staffing levels at all timesLeading the maintenance manager and his/her team with clear directions and objectives based on plant, client and contract requirements.Developing the required LT asset management plan to ensure operational continuity during the lifespan of the projectProviding strong leadership to the operations team to achieve all objectives.Ensuring practices and procedures comply with regulations, codes and standardsUnderstanding the fundamentals of the plant design and process to ensure efficient performance of the operations.Being available, in person or on the phone, to advise and direct the team when taking critical decisions during the different shifts of operations.EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENTPlant manager is responsible for the effective, compliant and foresight management of the people working at the plant. In particular the plant manager is responsible for:Monitoring and approving employees timesheet, vacations and other benefits.Defining and communicating SMART goals and objectives for all personnel reporting directly and indirectly to the plant manager. Regularly assessing the performance of the employees to help them better achieve their defined goals.Assessessing and assisting in upgrading the supervisory and operators talent and skills bases to achieve growth and meet objectives such as reduced cost, efficient, improved maintenance and reliable delivery.Developing succession plans and leads plant hiring and training choices.Defining and communicating as required roles and responsibilities of the employees which are part of the plant O&M team.Ensuring required training is organized in a timely manner.Coaching operation supervisors to become expert in their job and good leaders of the people they manage.RISK MANAGEMENTPlant manager is responsible for the implementation of risk management initiatives to mitigate all major risks potentially affecting the plant and or the contract. In particular:Carrying out regular risk assessments to identify major risks, performing qualitative and quantitative analysis to determine how the identified risks could affect the plant or the projectProposing suitable actions to mitigate the identified risk prioritizing those with bigger impact.Involving other stakeholders (management, technical department, client, etc) to plant and implement agreed control measures.Developing a Business Continuity Management PlanMonitoring progress of improvement and generating suitable documentation.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:Leading subcontracting choices and managing subcontractors in accordance with Veolia policies and proceduresEnsuring all environmental requirements of the plant and the contract are met in accordance with Veolia policies and procedures.Driving continuous improvements in all aspects of plant performance.Providing Veolia management with regular and accurate reporting on the performance of the plant and of the contractAttending or leading meetings to show clear participation of Management in key initiatives.Participating in the broader Veolia, as required
