Review the position below and apply today.We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.At this time, Dominion Energy cannot transfer or sponsor a work visa or employment authorization for this position.Job SummaryDominion's Power Generation Business Unit seeks an Engineer II or III with field support background, including operation and design understanding, in Boilers, HRSGs, piping and associated power station equipment also experience in Welding Engineering, “R” Stamp program, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel, and B31.1 Power Piping code experience, is strongly desired.This position will be located at Dominion Energy's Headquarters Building in Richmond, VA.The successful candidate will be able to provide the support noted below in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements for the non-nuclear Generation fleet and its auxiliaries.Will provide the following corporate support in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements to Dominion’s Power Generation (non-nuclear) fleet:
Boiler and HRSG Inspections - Perform and/or coordinate inspections to assess and recommend cost effective short-term repair and long-term preventive maintenance strategies, design improvements, and major equipment component replacement strategies, requiring good equipment and system troubleshooting aptitudes;
Engineering Support – Includes technical studies, field assessments with station personnel, work scopes and specification development, cost estimates, construction support, vendor and QC surveillance, and coordination with maintenance or contractors for repair execution
Planned and Forced Outage Support – Provide boiler, HRSG, and welding assessment, inspections, reports and repair recommendations for minor and more complex maintenance events.
Boiler and HRSG Root Cause Analysis – Lead or support root cause assessments to provide recommendations to correct/mitigate repetitive events, including cost effective maintenance and operational procedures to maintain unit capacity and efficiency. Experience with boiler, HRSG, and piping failure modes and analysis strongly desired.
Desired Experience in:
R-Stamp Program – Oversee and lead the corporate R-Stamp Program, overseeing welder performance testing, monitoring welder continuity maintenance, overseeing, and leading R- Stamp Certificate of Authorization renewals, audit individual field/station compliance with QC manual requirements, address any non-compliances, assist stations with the development of repair methods and testing requirements as needed for repairs.
Welding Engineering Support – Provide welding engineering support for weld assessments, design, quality assurance, and repair procedures, including stress relieving operations, in conjunction with Dominion’s Corporate Welding Manual and corporate “R” Stamp program for both ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel and Power Piping Code equipment. Lead the review of contractor welding programs to assess overall qualifications and administrative control of their QC program requirements. Assess welding issues as they arise in the field and during projects. Experience with Creep Strength Enhanced Ferritic Steels, especially Grade 91 is strongly desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceTechnical Skills Required: Engineer II - Minimum 3+ years of technical engineering support experience in the maintenance and operation of fossil-fueled (coal, oil, gas) boiler and/or HRSG steam generators. Engineer III - Minimum 5+ years of technical engineering support experience in the maintenance and operation of fossil-fueled (coal, oil, gas) boiler and/or HRSG steam generators. Must be familiar with Boiler and HRSG component design, boiler tube & pipe repairs and some understanding knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods and welding processes. Desired experience with ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel & Power Piping Codes (Section I and B31.1), National Board Inspection Codes (NBIC), Boiler R Stamp codes and requirements, Demonstrated skills in welding & material sciences, non-destructive examination (NDE) processes, and basic boiler component design.Non-Technical Skills Required: Work both independently and in a team environment; Effective written & verbal skills that foster positive interpersonal communication; Inspection report and work scope development; Strong leadership skills; Computer Skills - Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline; Strong conflict resolution skills; Ability to give presentations, manage multiple projects, train and mentor others.Education RequirementsEducation Level Required: Bachelor EngineeringPreferred: Mechanical EngineeringREQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, orPossess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, orPossess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, orHolds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer licenseLicenses, Certifications, or Quals DescriptionPreferred Certifications/Licenses:
