Food Hall Cafe Seeking Manager

For our first location outside of NYC, Eleva Coffee is seeking a highly-skilled & professional barista with management & leadership capabilities. This person will lead our barista team and manage day-to-day operations at our new location in the Dairy Market food hall, Charlottesville’s exciting new culinary destination.

Eleva is a growing, social-impact-driven coffee start-up founded by a global coffee veteran with 15 years experience. This is your chance to become part of a diverse, passionate, and highly motivated team whose ultimate goal is to connect our amazing small farming communities with the coffee lovers of NYC, Charlottesville, and beyond.

Initially, the majority of your time will be working shifts. The number of shifts will diminish as we grow our customer base, and your management duties expand. Below is a bulleted description of the responsibilities from day one, as well as the qualifications of the ideal candidate.

Your Responsibilities:

- Hire, supervise, and train (according to Eleva’s guidelines) our initial team of baristas

- Work shifts

- Manage the scheduling of staff, ordering all food, milks, & pastries, and other day-to-day operating duties

- Suggest, and execute, ideas as to how we can improve in any and all areas

Technical Qualifications:

- Extensive experience with espresso machines (you’ll be using a Synesso s200) and other high-end coffee equipment

- Skilled in latte art, but, even more importantly, proper techniques for milk steaming

- Savvy around equipment, and capable of performing routine monthly maintenance

- Seasoned coffee palate to ensure our drinks are consistent in taste, and true to their intended flavor profiles

Experience:

- Minimum 2 years working in a high-end, high-volume coffee environment.

- Experience as a lead/head barista is a major plus.

- VA Food Handler Certification Required
