Job Summary: The purpose of the Purchasing Driver is to pick up and deliver operating supplies for WSI departments. The Assistant/Driver provides a link between vendors and suppliers, and the Purchasing Agent. Assist with keeping the purchasing warehouse clean and organized. Maintain safety as a priority in driving company vehicles and utilizing safe lifting techniques in the conduct of duties. The Purchasing department is located in the Woodshop/Purchasing Building off of the Maple parking lot.

Job Specifications:

High school graduate or GED equivalent.

Must be able to read and perform basic math.

Some knowledge of lumber and building supply products, vehicle parts and accounting preferred.

Per WSI’s insurance: must be at least 18 years old with a valid Driver’s License and the ability to be added to WSI insurance policy.

Subject to WSI’s Alcohol and Controlled Substance Abuse Policy based on the nature of the position and related duties.

Must be self starter and able to work independently with little supervision.

Good organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks.

Ability to work under pressure and in a busy and stressful environment with many interruptions.

Ability to develop effective working relationships with fellow workers and vendors; ability to deal courteously and tactfully with public.

Familiarity with Winter Sports, Inc. and Big Mountain Resort helpful.

Must be able to work within the framework of the WSI and the department policies and procedures as set forth in the employee manuals.

A valid driver license with a driving record acceptable to the insurance carrier of WSI is required.

Specific Duties:

Receiving and Distribution

Deliver supply requisitions to the Purchasing Agent from departments.

The Purchasing Agent will then schedule pick-ups.

The Assistant/Driver will ensure that items picked up from vendors are the items ordered, the quantity order, and that items are not damaged.

Deliver items picked up to the correct department.

Unload delivery trucks and check in delivered item as per the warehouse procedures.

Load Summit House food bins for delivery to the restaurant.

Maintain order and cleanliness in the warehouse and office.

Accountabilities

Maintain cleanliness of the delivery truck and do general maintenance, such as oil change and tire rotation, and lubricate.

Report any unusual mechanical problems with the truck to the Purchasing Agent.

Demonstrate a cordial and professional image of WSI to vendors, suppliers and employees.

Perform duties of the Purchasing Assistant in his/her absence.

Truck Safety

The purchasing truck will be used only in the service of WSI and under no circumstances will the Assistant use the truck after hours except on specific business assignments.

When driving the truck, all traffic rules and speed limits will be observed and obeyed.

Riders are not allowed to ride in the purchasing truck except for WSI employees on WSI business matters or in the case of an emergency.

Safety for others and self should always be the first concern of anyone driving the WSI purchasing truck.

Safety & Wellness:

All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors. This will involve, but not be limited to, periodic inspections of work and public areas. Follow up notification will be done to correct the condition or practice at the earliest possible opportunity

Work Environment:

Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 30 to 40 pounds frequently throughout the day, while getting in and out of the truck, going up and down stairs, in and out of buildings.

Must be able to physically handle heavy items in excess of 100 pounds several times a week.

Ability to be on one’s feet for extended time periods up to 1 to 2 hours at a time daily.

Ability to be sitting for extended time periods up to 1 to 2 hours at a time daily.

Requires heavy physical activity to include constant bending, stooping, lifting, climbing stairs and stretching on a frequent basis.

Drive company vehicles in the performance of daily duties.

Flexibility in schedule changes on short notice is required.

Job may require working weekends, holidays and overtime during peak demand times.

Ability to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature.

Non-smoking environment.
