Job Description

To provide guidelines that identifies the qualifications, competencies and expectations for the job of Front Office Receptionist.

Qualifications

Essential Job Duties:

  • Has good communication skills (oral and written)
  • An active listener who can respond to fellow employees/patients in a timely, competent manner
  • Is always friendly and courteous
  • Ability to distinguish emergency patient situations
  • Presents a professional, caring image
  • Exercises discretion and integrity in dealing with confidential information(complies with HIPAA privacy rules)
  • Meets organizational dress code
  • Sets priorities and demonstrates good judgment
  • Maintains a clean and orderly appearance of your workstation
  • Maintains an efficient patient flow
  • Answers a multi-line phone system, triages calls appropriately and takes detailed messages as needed
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Obtains and verifies patient demographic and financial information
  • Completes opening/closing procedures. Prepares office and paperwork for patients/physicians.
  • Completes requisitions and forms based on provider orders
  • Collects payments/copays
  • Close out/balance daily money collections
  • Interacts with other departments to ensure teamwork, improve work flow and develop better patient customer service
  • Maintains inventory of office and medical supplies
  • Acts as an office liason for pharmaceutical representatives
  • Addresses incoming faxes
  • Follows directions/guidance from the Lead Medical Assistant and Office Manager.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Office Manager, Lead Medical Assistant or Provider.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT and ICD-9 coding
  • Previous front office experience in a medical practice environment, preferred
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must successfully pass a background check and a drug screening

Minimum Competencies:

  • Computer skills
