We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Operations Engineer with our industry-leading client in North Carolina.We will accept corp to corp or w2 contractors. Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain asset planning and management strategy for network design and operation.
  • Develop and implement network guidelines and performance standards for QoS, Security, and Network Monitoring.
  • Maintain and administer AWS Cloud Core, Distribution, and Customer Edge Devices which includes but is not limited to Cisco, Ruckus, Brocade, and planet layer 2 and layer 3 network devices.
  • Analyze complex technical problems across all technology layers for quick resolution using packet capture and other diagnostics tools.
  • Work with third-party carriers, vendors, and suppliers to resolve network issues and plan for growth.
  • Analyze current network performance and plan for future needs.
  • Support and administer firewall environments in line with security policy; identify and mitigate potential network vulnerability risks.
  • Work with Engineering department support teams to update policies and procedures relating to the upkeep and performance of all parts of the network, including hardware and software.
  • Work and collaborate with IT groups and business units in support of projects, application performance, and security compliance to build and deliver solutions.
  • Participate in on-call support for issues outside of regular business hours.
  • Facilitate internal meetings with managers and other team members, or meetings with vendors completing project activities, to review project status and implement changes as necessary.
  • Collect, draft, and deliver to management Event Analyses and/or Root Cause Analysis ("RCA") and RCA summations.
  • Document network processes, procedures, working instructions, work-flows, network topology data, and as-built data

Requirements:
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services: EC2, S3, CloudFormation, RDS, CloudFront, VPC, Route53, IAM, CloudWatch, Beanstalk, and Lambda.
  • Detailed understanding of core network protocols and services (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, REST/SOAP, FTPS/SFTP, DNS, SSL, firewalls, load balancers).
  • Experience scripting against APIs.
  • Strong ability to communicate to technical and non-technical recipients via email and written and verbal reports.
  • Strong change management skills and ability to influence decision makers.
  • Ability to direct the diagnosis of technical problems and critical paths and institute remedies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to work with different functional groups levels of employees throughout the organization to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong follow-up skills; ability to organize timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and with others to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify high quality solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5 years of Network Engineering experience and at least 2 years of Tier 2/3 Technical Support experience required.
  • 2 years of experience with Linux system administration, including virtualization, along with wireless security and RADIUS AAA skills preferred.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles and concepts (including VPN) preferred.
  • CCNA, CCNP, CCNP Cloud, Wireless, etc., technical certifications preferred.
