Senior UNIX Engineer - Hosting Services to support the

  • Salary: Dependent upon experience
  • Security Clearance: ability to attain an active DHS EOD required
  • Availability: upon award, currently in proposal stage
Responsibilities
  • Specialized experience includes developing functional requirements for Government or industry standards, processes, procedures, methodologies or tools that support analysis relative to the requirement.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently or under only minimal general direction.
  • Analyze user needs to determine functional requirements.
  • Perform functional allocation to identify required tasks and their interrelationships.
  • Demonstrate experience with various Unix operating systems
  • Utilize system monitoring tools, Testing and analyzing databases including operations
  • Understand and test database designs (including schemas, tables, views, triggers, stored procedures, etc.) and operational procedures
  • Understanding of complex problems including performance tuning, application design and debugging
  • Verifying procedures to support application requirements and other analyses.
  • Verifying automation using Unix based scripts (e.g. shell, Perl) for data processing and data loading
  • Verifying design and implementation of role-based security to meet requirements
  • Verifying systems operations including performing migrations into production environments, Systems and Security Monitoring, Configuration management (Puppet, Chef, or similar), Application support in a Linux environment, and demonstrate understanding in one of more of: Shell, PHP, Perl or Python
Qualifications
  • 10 years of analysis related to design, development, and integration of hardware and software to support large scale Unix environments with virtualization including RedHat, CentOS, and SPARC Solaris
  • 10 years' experience testing large scale UNIX and virtual environments.
  • Experience performing a variety of engineering and operational related assignments associated with SAN, NAS and Storage operations, backup operations, and virtualization software (VMware's vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V on a set of enterprise-level IT systems.
  • 10 years' experience writing scripts with a scripting language, with knowledge of ANSIBLE
  • Familiarity with DevOps and ITIL processes
  • Experienced in AWS, AZURE, Google Cloud Services, and other Cloud environments
  • Must have the ability to transport laptop/work equipment to and from work and home in order to support remote work, if required.
