Community-Minded Enterprises is recruiting for a

Employment Specialist

This position supports the overall mission and vision of Community-Minded Enterprises, the Recovery Community Services programs and the Recovery Cafe. The Employment Specialist provides employment and educational support to an identified caseload of individuals.

The Employment Specialist will engage with project participants to provide employment and educational support. Support may encompass assessment of work-related skills and abilities, providing job development and job coaching, developing natural supports, teaching job search and retention skills and addressing other client specific needs regarding education and skill development. The Employment Specialist will also work to educate employers and the general public of employment as a fundamental right for everyone, by participating in the planning and implementation of stigma reducing and community awareness activities which are related to supported employment and employment successes.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

 Provide guidance, coaching and training to individuals on caseload and complete appropriate follow up as needed.

 Interview participants and conduct comprehensive assessment of the participants needs around employment and educational support and skill development.

 Assures that client understands the process and completes all necessary paperwork.

 Teaches clients needed skills in both group and individual settings.

 Advocates on behalf of individuals to coordinate appropriate services related to goals and outcomes.

 Provide job development and job coaching to individuals on caseload

 Conducts outreach and of the program to referral sources and community partners

Qualifications:

 Combination of BA or AA Degree in Social Service-Related field & 2 years of demonstrated experience. Minimum of 4 years demonstrated experience providing vocational services, supported employment, or similar services can stand in for education requirements as well.

Additional desired qualifications: Experience providing Peer based services or other Recovery Services a plus.

 Minimum of 2 years providing vocational services, supported employment or similar services.

 Clear understanding of the eligibility criteria of needed community/social service resources

 A demonstrated comfort level working with people & situations that can feel frustrating, unclear, & seemingly hopeless; Ability to work with a positive attitude in stressful situations.

 Demonstrated commitment to cultural relevancy, diversity & inclusion & have a racial equity mindset.

 Ability to work independently, self-motivates, prioritizes work & manages time effectively.

 Excellent written & verbal communications skills & proven ability to act in a professional manner.

 Flexibility, enthusiasm, organization, & a positive attitude.

 Computer literate & proficient using all Microsoft Office programs.

 Must have current, valid driver’s license, insurance & access to reliable transportation & able to pass a criminal history background check.
