SummaryThe Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) provides security for the IHS network and serves as the security expert for the Information Technology (IT) projects. This position is located at the Phoenix Area Office in Phoenix, AZ and reports to the Phoenix Area Chief Information Officer.ResponsibilitiesCoordinates when necessary with Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) personnel to ensure that Security systems are adequately secure and kept up to date. Participates in conducting security evaluations; testing; reviews; audits of processes, such as risk and self-assessments; vulnerability scans and penetration tests; COOP/EMP testing; and other security oriented processes. Contributes to Enterprise Architecture Management, Software and System Acquisition Management, and IHS Capital Planning and Investment Control management. Ensures the security of systems while balancing the needs of system end-users in multiple lines of business throughout the IHS and Tribal health care system, including front office; direct and ancillary clinical, medical records; business office; and others. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-2210-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Provide leadership and direction to programs and activities designed to improve health services; Planning and managing IT projects related to providing security for network and enterprise projects; Facilitating efforts to protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data, health IT and supporting IT infrastructure systems. Specialized Experience for GS-7 (or equivalent) and Above: Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Telework: This position has full-time telework potential. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave is earned. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Recruitment and/or Relocation Incentives and/or Permanent Change of Station may be authorized and is subject to availability and service unit approval. If offered, you will be required to sign a one (1) year service agreement. Failure to fulfill the service agreement will result in repayment of the incentive.
