Principal duties/Roles and responsibilities:



The Secondary Economics Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for developing and supporting Economics curriculum for secondary students. This includes developing new curriculum, reviewing existing curriculum, modifying, extending, and revising existing lessons, aligning curriculum to state and national standards, and formulating formative and summative assessments. Effective communication with the content frameworks and the cross-functional agile team members is essential. SMEs will also define and oversee project work done by content writers. Candidates with background knowledge and expertise in online learning, curriculum development, and learning management platforms are encouraged to apply.

Required Skills/Must Have:



Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Minimum 3 years curriculum development and/or instructional experience in Economics, including experience developing and executing instruction leveraging digital products

Must enjoy a challenging work environment that requires significant flexibility, self-direction, and creativity

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office programs)

Must be able to work effectively as part of a team and independently

Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail

Ability to effectively meet deadlines

Agile/ SAFe experience preferred

Preferred Skills /Desired but not required:

Develop scope and sequences and course maps to inform new course development;

Develops, tests, and revises curriculum and instructional standards to drive the creation of outcomes-based and objectives-focused courseware.

Support Curriculum Development teams, both external and internal, in the implementation of these standards, through training, review, and feedback;

Work with Curriculum Development to develop prototype lessons based on these standards to inform course development briefs;

Works with the Product Managers and others to ensure that the curriculum is of the highest quality and that it meets the needs of our students and school stakeholders;

Uses course performance data and input from stakeholders to revise and maintain curriculum;

Demonstrate knowledge of state and national economics standards and NSQ National Standards for Quality Online Learning;

Provide subject matter expertise as needed for various company efforts;

Stay current on most recent subject area strategies, trends and initiatives;

Other duties as assigned.
