LABORATORY MANAGER/TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, McGovern Institute for Brain Research-Jazayeri Lab, to contribute to multidisciplinary research on the neural basis of cognition in humans and animal models. Will be responsible for animal-related functions (e.g., purchasing, care, training, behavioral testing, structural MRI scanning, pre- and post-surgical preparations, anesthesia, and occasional monitoring and care); wet-lab related functions (e.g., purchasing and maintaining equipment and chemical and biological materials); management functions (e.g., developing standardized protocols, facilitating ongoing research of other lab members, training new members, purchasing equipment and consumables, keeping research areas clean, enforcing environmental health and safety, maintaining laboratory website); and administrative functions (e.g., scheduling meetings, organizing events and visits, managing lab finances, handling travel reimbursements and calendars, prooing/revising grants and manuscripts, handling mail, etc.). Will also be responsible for building relationships and working effectively with colleagues and staff in McGovern, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Committee of Animal Care, Committee on the Use of Humans as Experimental Subjects, and Environmental Health Safety.Job RequirementsREQUIRED: bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, biomedical engineering, or related field; at least two years’ relevant experience; abilityafter an initial learning/adaptation periodto perform the enlisted functions with little or no help; comfort working with animals; strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills; basic computer skills and familiarity with Dropbox, Microsoft Word, and Google Docs; and self-motivation. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively and juggle the dynamic events that occur in an energetic, fast-paced interdisciplinary research environment.
