Mt. Diablo Adult Education’s Adults with Disabilities Department is seeking a skilled and

compassionate instructor to teach adults with mild to moderate intellectual and developmental

disabilities. Duties include: small and large group instruction in functional academics,

independent living skills, computers, social/ communication skills, pre-vocational skills and

community living skills; conducting formal and informal assessments; writing student goals;

lesson planning; assessing progress. Includes classroom and community based instruction.

Must work well with an instructional team and provide supervision and direction to Senior

Instructional Assistants. Please note that all classes are currently online with Zoom.

Job Requirements: Experience working with adults with disabilities as listed above is required. Must have a positive and respectful teaching approach. Must possess or be eligible for the California Educational Specialist, Multiple Subject or Adult Designated Subjects: Adult Basic Education or Adults with Disabilities teaching credential. (If not in possession of an appropriate credential, eligibility for an adult education credential includes verification of at least three years of related experience and/or education in the field and a bachelor’s degree and successful completion of the CBEST).
