Job Description

The purpose of this role is to effectively execute and implement the overall Corporate Affairs strategy for Venetia Mine through the implementation of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan, social performance strategy, communication plan and enterprise & supplier development strategy that create an integrated environment with Venetia Mine employees, host communities and external stakeholders.Key tasks include:

  • Develop and manage the execution of the internal and external communication strategy at Venetia Mine
  • Ensuringthat the corporate identity and positive image of Venetia Mine and De Beers Group is presented effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leading development of Venetia Mine’s component of the Group Social Performance Strategy.
  • Ensuringsocio-economic development initiatives (Building Forever, Social & Labour Plan, Socio-Economic Development, Corporate Social Responsibility, Enterprise & Supplier Development) are aligned to maximise benefit to host communities.
  • Establish relationships with Provincial, Regional and Municipal government stakeholders and providestrategic advice on the implementation of Stakeholder Relations strategy, policies and plans by ensuring alignment with South African legislation and De Beers Group policies.
  • Managingcompliance for Venetia Mine with focus on Social and Labour Plan, Mining Charter, Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment and Minimum Permitting Requirements.

Qualifications

Education required

  • Social science degree or Public Relations Degree or related degree such as development planning
  • A business management qualification would be an advantage.

Knowledge & Experience required

  • Minimum 10 years management experience of which at least 5 should be in the extractive environment.
  • Working with SA government and traditional communities (advantage).
  • Relevant experience working in social performance management.
  • Policy development and program implementation with national footprint.
  • Knowledge of the Risk management process (ORM).
  • Knowledge of the Social Way framework.
