Come Teach Where Smartphones Are Not Allowed Past the Office
This is a small private school that Niche.com has ranked the #5 Best Private College Prep High School in the County. College prep requires more than just letting students cheat their way into college where they will cheat their way through a useless major. I am looking to add subject teachers for Grades 6-12.
If the smartphone subject line got your attention, you probably already want to quit teachingDON'T.
It is becoming quite clear that we may need to add a Grade 5 if we are going to be able to bring children back up to grade level and continue developing thinkers with a strong conceptual faculty. Even students coming from some "good" private elementary schools have had their cognitive development stunted.
On the one hand, it is sad to see videos of young teachers in their 20’s and 30’s ready to quit the profession. On the other hand, it renews my hope that there are teachers who get it nowteachers who can see that something is very wrong, even if they haven’t yet seen the underlying root cause. It is encouraging to see youthful teachers who actually realize that teaching is a professiona profession they had been looking forward to.
I want teachers to be able to enjoy the profession.
Are you tired of the in-class distractions?
If a child must bring a cell phone to school at Cambrian Academy, it is powered completely off and left in the office until the end of the day. This doesn’t repair the cognitive damage already done, but it allows us to begin rebuilding once the child has adapted.
Are you tired of the uncivilized behavior?
Parents must understand up front that we do not allow it. Parent and student behavior is covered in the enrollment contract. Private schools can do that. Government schools cannot, mainly because they cannot enforce the consequences. Here, when a student is expelled for behavior reasons, there is no refund. This incentivizes parents either to help or to write a bad review when we actually enforce consequences. (Of course, we first try to help a student modify behavior.)
If you felt the urge to correct some of my intentional grammar mistakes above, you might be a good candidate. If you believe that grammar is an arbitrary set of rules forced on us by an oppressive ruling class, don’t bother.
If you believe honest grading is important to a child’s future success, you might be a good candidate. If you have additional work experience outside of teaching that will help show students the relevance of what they are learning, you may be a great candidate. If you like coordinating with fellow teachers to help students understand how apparently separate subjects relate to each other, you may be a great candidate.
