Packing Machine Operator

Set up, operate, and maintain packaging line equipment, maximizing throughputs and meeting targets for the day. Train production workers and assist them with their job to achieve production standards and goals.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Train all line workers to ensure all jobs are being done safely and correctly.

2. Set up line at the start of the shift to make sure all needed supplies and materials are available for the shift.

3. Ensure daily supplies, (hairnets, gloves, etc.) are available to line employees and that GMPs are being followed.

4. Make running adjustments to packaging lines and scales to ensure the correct weights, code information, and packaging quality standards are achieved for efficient outputs.

5. Basic trouble shooting skills of packaging equipment.

6. Offer solutions and ideas to improve the quantity, quality and overall line efficiencies.

7. Confirm that the correct lot numbers are being used for the product being packaged along with packaging materials.

8. Maintain a safe and sanitary work area. Report any safety hazards to your supervisor.

9. Perform shut down of line and make sure all equipment and supplies are returned to their proper location.

Essential Requirements

1. Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.

2. Ability to communicate effectively in one on one and small group situations.

3. Basic math skills including, fractions, decimals, ratio and percentages.

4. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

5. Ability to plan, organize, and anticipate work activities. Ability to interpret and meet quality specifications and production requirements.

6. Bilingual skills are essential for clear communication with employees.

7. Good attendance record and able to work different shifts, overtime and weekends.

8. Safety conscious at all times. Require others to perform in a safe manner.

9. Forklift certification.
