Dir Clinical Systems

DescriptionResponsible for managinga team of clinical IT staff. Plans and directs all aspects of design,implementation and maintenance of clinical information systems to effectivelyapply technology solutions to improve clinical operations. Performs administrativeand management functions for McLaren Health Care system’s clinical IS area.The director isresponsible for translating the mission, strategic goals and program prioritiesof McLaren Health Care into department operations. Responsible for providing leadership,direction and management of information systems that directly support clinicalinformation system solutions. Manages the analysis, selection, design,implementation and support of clinical information systems solutions to manageand improve clinical operations.Essential Functions and Responsibilities :Plans, prioritizes, summarizes, directs and supervisesstaff, users and vendors in clinical systems development and support functionswith an emphasis on complete, accurate, compliant and secure systems.

Provides functional and technical leadership for theimplementation and support of software applications (internally or vendordeveloped), enhancements, and modifications.

Prepares and recommends short- and long-term goals andobjectives for the systems development and support functions and in support ofthe overall IS strategy.

Provides insight and the appropriate level of reportingto various leaders and partners within McLaren Health Care.

Monitors system issues and performance and whennecessary escalates issues to the appropriate stakeholders and supportsincident and problem management efforts.

Supervises and conducts special analyses, such asrequirements analysis, system feasibility studies, systems selection andprocess improvement projects.

QualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree required in a related field from an accredited college or university

5 years’ experience as a nurse or medical technician

8 years information systems leadership experience as a supervisor or manager in a large hospital, academic medical center or healthcare setting

3 years’ experience with the Cerner Millennium platform

5 years’ experience with technical support and information security management in the electronic medical record

3 years’ experience in both technical and strategic roles in healthcare environments (in large integrated healthcare systems)

Preferred:Master’s degree in business, or related field

Advanced clinical system experience

Certification in project management and prior project management experience in clinical information systems
